Early harvest

A farmer harvests wheat Monday afternoon near the intersection of U.S. 127 and state Route 119 in southern Mercer County. This year's wheat harvest is one to two weeks ahead of schedule. Unseasonably warm temperatures caused wheat to shut down earlier than normal this year, shortened the grain fill period and made it mature more quickly, OSU Extension officials said.
