Evelyn Ruth Smith, 92, of Versailles, died at 11:10 p.m., Aug. 18, 2007, at Versailles Health Care Center.

She was born Jan. 31, 1915, in Darke County, to Earl G. and Alice McGreevy York. On Nov. 23, 1939, she married Edgar S. Smith, who is deceased.

Surviving are four sons, William (Carol), Celina, Patrick (Rhonda), Bradford, and Michael J. (Brenda) and Gary (Jane), all of Versailles; five daughters, Barbara Fortkamp, Coldwater, Carolyn Beck, Greenville, Marlene (Rick) Froning, Wapakoneta, and Wanda Frilling and Peggy Weigel, both of St. Marys: two sisters-in-law, Hilda York, Russia, and Elizabeth York, of Florida; 34 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren.

Deceased are two brothers, Benjamin and Robert York; a sister, Pauline Watren; and two grandchildren.

A homemaker, she was a member of St. Denis Catholic Church, Versailles.

Funeral Mass is 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the church, the Revs. David Vincent, Jim Duell and Jim Simon officiating. Burial is at St. Valbert Cemetery, Versailles.

Calling is 2-8 p.m. Tuesday at Bailey Zachar Funeral Home, Versailles.
