Luella Ontrop
Coldwater native Luella A. Ontrop, 83, of Portland, Ind., died Aug. 19, 2007, at the Laurels of Shane Hill, Rockford.
She was born May 7, 1924, in Coldwater, to Herman and Mary Wolters Braun. On July 26, 1944, she married Ernest Ontrop, who died Feb. 27, 2005.
Surviving are two sons, Dennis, Fort Recovery, and Howard, Portland; three daughters, Carolyn (Dan) Kirkendall, Decatur, Ind., Margie (Herbert) May, Salamonia, Ind., and Mary Jo (Nick) Delzeith, St. Henry; two brothers, Walter Braun, Maria Stein, and Louis Braun, St. Henry; a sister, Mary Ann Dresch, Coldwater; nine grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, three stepgrandchildren and 12 stepgreat-grandchildren.
Deceased are a son, Paul; a daughter-in-law, Esther; a brother, Ernest Braun; and a sister, Mary Rose Braun.
She was a homemaker and a van driver for Jay Randolph. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Portland, and its Rosary Sodality, Arc and Sugar and Spice Home Economics Club.
Funeral Mass is 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the church, the Rev. Robert Moran officiating. Burial is at St. Peters Cemetery, Fort Recovery.
Calling is 3-8 p.m. Wednesday and 9-10 a.m. Thursday at Baird-Freeman Funeral Home, Portland. A scripture service will be conducted at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
