Karl Miller
Rockford native Karl E. Miller, 52, of Chattanooga, Tenn., died Aug. 21, 2007, at a Chattanooga-area hospital. Death was due to respiratory failure.
He was born June 11, 1955, in Van Wert, to Roma and Gloria Miller. His mother survives in Rockford. He married Martha M. Mallory, who survives.
Also surviving are a son, Joshua, Gainsville, Fla.; three daughters, Jennifer (Jeff) Heisler, Westerville, Melanie Whitlock and Ashley Miller, Chattanooga; five brothers, Michael (Paulette), Scottsdale, Ariz., James (Bev), Geneva, Ill., Rich (Jennifer) and Brian, all of Rockford, and Max (Ruth), Marshall, Mich.; and three sisters, Sandy (Dean) Ulrey, Rockford, Linda (Jeff) White, Willshire, and Ginny (Randy) Turner, Hilliard.
He was physician who formerly operated a private practice in Rockford. Later he became an associate director at W.W. Knight Family Practice Residency Center Program, Toledo, was an associate professor at Ohio State University and recently a professor at the University of Tennessee. He served as an assistant medical editor for two publications, Family Medicine and American Family Physician. He was a member of several professional medical organizations in Tennessee and the North America Primary Care Research Group, the Society of Teachers of Family Medicine, the American Academy of Family Medicine and the National Council of Hospice Professionals.
Services are 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Hixson United Methodist Church in Tennessee. There is no burial.
