Joseph MacDonald
Joseph A. MacDonald, 83, of state Route 29 West, Celina, died at 11 a.m. Aug. 24, 2007, at Celina Manor Nursing Home.
He was born April 12, 1924, in Celina, to Arthur and Lela Crockett MacDonald. On Nov. 9, 1946, he married Ruth Hausfeld, who died June 27, 2007.
Surviving are three daughters, Cindy Felver, Huber Heights, Sue (Richard Rossiter) MacDonald, Cincinnati, and Carol (Tom) Hone, Celina; a sister, Janet Kinkley, Vancouver, Wash.; and seven grandchildren.
He was a farmer and worked for more than 30 years as a foreman of the experimental department of the former New Idea plant in Coldwater, before retiring in 1979. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II serving in the Pacific Theater, a graduate of Celina High School and a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and its choir. He also was a member of the Society of Precious Blood Companions, Mercer County Farm Bureau and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5713, Celina.
A funeral Mass was held this morning at the church, the Rev. Kenneth Schroeder officiated. Burial was at North Grove Cemetery, Celina.
