Mercer County Assistant Prosecuting Attorney Amy Ikerd explains provisions of Ohio House Bill 9 to about 40 elected and appointed officals from Mercer, Auglaize and other Ohio counties and cities on Tuesday. The free seminar was to make officials aware of what they need to be in compliance with concerning the new public records law when it goes into effect Sept. 29. Ikerd told those attending to create and display a poster describing the public record rules, set a schedule for how long public records must be kept before destruction and draft a policy for their offices.
