Werner Bensman
Werner R. Bensman, 86, 10700 Paterson Halpin Road, Anna, died at 7:35 a.m. Sept. 12, 2007, at his daughter's residence in Sidney.
He was born Aug. 22, 1921, in St. Patrick, to Frank and Appolonia Mader Bensman. On April 15, 1944, he married Eulita M. Bertke, who died April 15, 2005.
Surviving are four sons, Gerald "Gary" (Emmy), Minster, Denny (Jane), Dayton, Gregory (Sue), Cincinnati, and Daniel (Julie), Fort Myers, Fla.; four daughters, Kathleen (Howard) Holiday, Crystal Lake, Ill., Susan (Robert) Cleppe, Arlington, Wash., Deborah Colfer, Greenbank, Wash., and Brenda (Eric) Locker, Sidney; a brother, Jerome Siegrist, Sidney; a sister, Dorothy Bergman, McCartyville; 12 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Deceased are a brother, Arthur; and two sisters, Mary Ann Baumer and Delores Debrosse.
He retired as a farmer and a real estate agent for Warner Realty. He was ordained a deacon in 1991 serving at St. Patrick, St. Michael and Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic churches. He was a member of St. Michael Church, Fort Loramie, Knights of Columbus in St. Patrick and McCartyville, National Farmers Organization and Shelby County Farm Bureau and a former board member and past president of Pioneer Electric.
Funeral Mass is 9:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Michael Catholic Church, Fort Loramie, the Rev. Steven Shoup officiating. Burial is at St. Patrick Cemetery.
Calling is 2-8 p.m. Friday and 8-9 a.m. Saturday at Hogenkamp Funeral Home, Minster.
