Stumped

A barge pulls up a stump from Grand Lake's bottom Monday just off Lake Shore Drive in Celina. Grand Lake St. Marys State Park Assistant Manager Brian Miller said this year has been one of the most successful for lake stump removal, which began Oct. 1 and wraps up Thursday. So far 87 stumps and 42 logs were pulled from the lake. One stump that was fished out near the Celina Eagles and Moose Lodge had 13 broken off boat propeller blades laying around its roots. A second stump found at another location had the propellor and shaft still embedded in it, Miller said.
