Jack Shade
Jack E. Shade, 78, 515 Sycamore St., Celina, died at 5:15 p.m. Oct. 17, 2007, at his home.
He was born July 24, 1929, in Versailles, to Herman and Opal Lanich Shade. On Nov. 2, 1951, he married Darlene J. Nowlin, who died Aug. 4, 2006.
Surviving are a son, Jeff, Celina; three daughters, Jackie (Ken) Ward, Englewood, Jill Pyle, Celina and Jennifer (David) Phipps, St. Marys; a sister, Nancy (Herb) Meeds, Celina; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Deceased are a son-in-law, Jay Pyle; three brothers, Royce, Carl and France; and two sisters, Enid Ketring and Dorothy Hopkins.
He was a poultry delivery truck driver for many years and a retired owner and operator of Celina Diesel. A 1947 graduate of Versailles High School, he was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War and member of the Mercer County Elks.
Services are at noon Monday at Lehman-Hogenkamp-Dzendzel Funeral Home, Celina, the Rev. Douglas Dafoe officiating. Burial is at Mercer Memory Gardens, Celina. Military honors will be conducted by American Legion Post 210, Celina.
Calling is 10 a.m.-noon Monday at the funeral home.
