Rev. Emmitt Collett
Former Portland, Ind. resident Rev. Emmitt Collett, 80, 512 Lincoln St., Lot 22, Dunkirk, died Oct. 22, 2007 at Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne, Ind. from injuries sustained in an automobile accident on Oct. 17, 2007 in Wells County, Ind.
He was born Jan. 14, 1927, in Roark, Ky., to Loyd and Lucy Collett.
Surviving are four sons: Roland, Beaver, Utah; Anthony, Centerville, Ind.; Jeff, Coldwater; and Brad, Warren, Ind.; three daughters: Loutricia Bryant, Centerville, Tammy Sewvisky, Moorsville, N.C. and Amy McNeilan, Celina; three brothers: Delbert, St. Joseph, Minn.; Roland, Richmond, Ind.; and Frank Rogers, West Plains, Mo.; 21 grandchildren; and several grandchildren.
He retired in 1989 as a welder at Union City Body Company. A pastor, he ministered at several churches in Indiana and was involved with music ministries.
Service is Monday at Jack's Creek United Methodist Church in Roark, the Rev. Steve Garrett officiating. Burial will follow in the Collett Cemetery in Roark.
Calling is 4-7 p.m. Saturday in the Portland Chapel of Williamson and Spencer Funeral Home, 208 N. Commerce St., Portland. Visitation will also be held in the Jack's Creek United Methodist Church in Roark from 1 a.m. to 11 p.m. Monday before the service.
