MARIA STEIN - It appears voters in the Marion Local school district will face traditional millage as well as an income tax at the March 8 primary.

That is the consensus board of education members reached during a special Monday night meeting.

Mercer County officials are asking residents to decide the fate of a 0.5 percent countywide sales tax that would be used to build a new $12 million, 100-bed jail west of Celina. [More]

A Celina man pleaded guilty last week in Mercer County Common Pleas Court to an amended charge of attempted felonious assault. The offense is a second-degree felony since it involved a police officer.

Four citations for operating a vehicle under the influence (OVI) were issued during Mercer County's first OVI checkpoint and related saturation patrol held during the weekend. One local man wound up being arrested twice.

Three candidates are running for one open seat on the Mercer County Soil and Water Conservation District board of supervisors.

The results of the upcoming election will be revealed during the SWCD's annual banquet and meeting on Nov. 8.
