A group of parents work to bag 4,600 pounds of candy for a fundraiser at Celina West Elementary School on Thursday. The West Elementary School Community Organization (WESCO) organizes the sale each year to raise money for a variety of school items that are not in the school budget, including Smart Boards, playground equipment, laptops and DVD players. Students this year sold more than $27,000 in candy and canned meat, for a $11,000 profit, group co-chairwomen Laura McNeilan and Amy Miller said. Prizes, mostly donated, are awarded to students and classrooms with the highest sales; each of the 220 students participating this year receives some type of reward, the women said. This year's sales topped the goal and netted the entire school a popcorn/movie day.
