Lois Koch
Lois C. Koch, 88, of Rockford, died at 1:43 p.m. Nov. 24, 2007, at The Laurels of Shane Hill, Rockford.
She was born March 16, 1919, in Chattanooga, to Rudolph and Nellie (Deyo) Heffner. On Sept. 3, 1939, she married Morris Koch, who died July 8, 1982.
Surviving are two sons, David (Gloria), Cridersville, and Daniel, Portland, Ore.; two foster daughters, Joan (Tom) Ainsworth, Ohio City, and June Secrist, Wadsworth; a brother, Robert (Pat) Heffner, Cridersville; two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Deceased are two brothers, Luther and Cleo Heffner; and a sister, Ruth Heffner.
She was a teacher at the former Cheryl An School, Celina, then began the first class for special students in Mercer County at Parkway Local Schools. She retired as a work-study coordinator. She was a member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ, Rockford, the Women's Guild and the State Teacher's Retirement System of Ohio. She served on various committees and groups at Otterbein, Cridersville, where she formerly resided.
Services are 11 a.m. Friday at the church, the Rev. Catherine Costello officiating. Burial is at the church cemetery.
Calling is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Ketcham-Ripley Funeral Home, Rockford, and after 10 a.m. Friday at the church.
