Gerald Stammen Sr.
Fort Recovery native Gerald J. Stammen Sr., 72, 8988 E. State Road 26, Portland, Ind., died at 5:20 a.m. Dec. 24, 2007, at his home.
He was born Jan. 27, 1935, in Fort Recovery, to Adolph and Cune Klingshirn Stammen. On March 29, 1974, he married Evelyn I. Arnold, who survives.
Other survivors are two sons, John, Bluffton, Ind., and Gerald Jr. (Michelle), Fort Recovery; two daughters, Jessica (Randy) Smith, Greenville, and Lena (Tim) Coffman, Rockford; five sisters, Sister Hedwig, Dayton, Bibiana DeWitt, Springfield, Sylvia Serey, Utica, Fabiola Doan, Columbus, and Jovita (Sylvester) Broerman, Fort Loramie; 10 grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
Deceased are an infant brother, Elgar; and two grandchildren.
He was a can milk hauler for 26 years and was employed as a truck driver at Bearcreek Farms, Bryant, Ind. He was a U.S. Army veteran and a 1953 graduate of Fort Recovery High School.
Private services are 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Brockman-Boeckman Funeral Home, Fort Recovery, the Rev. Kevin Keller officiating. Burial is at Elm Grove Cemetery, Bluffton, Ind.
