C. Ray Kettering
C. Ray Kettering, 93, Rockford, died Jan. 18, 2008, at The Laurels of Shane Hill, Rockford.
He was born Sept. 5, 1914, to John and Dora Sapp Kettering. On Feb. 14, 1937, he married Echo Stallter, who survives.
Other survivors are a son, Keith (Kris), Bloomfield, Mich.; three daughters, Kay (John) Thomas, Rockford, Karen (Wayne) Roell, Dale, Ind., and Kathy (Stew) McHie, Oakton, Va.; seven grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.
Deceased are three sisters, Marie Samples, Eva Bayles and Betty Miller and a granddaughter.
He was a farmer and a life-long member of Mercer County Farm Bureau. He was a member of the Rockford United Methodist Church, where he also served as Sunday School teacher, trustee, board member and superintendent for 25 years as well as a 59-year-member of Shanes Lodge 377 F. & A.M., Rockford.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Monday at the church, the Rev. Mike Berne officiating. Burial is at Riverside Cemetery, Rockford.
Calling is 2-8 p.m. Sunday and 9:30-10:30 a.m. Monday at the church.
