Schwieterman's defense motions heard in fatality case
An expert witness testified Friday afternoon that a Chickasaw man charged in connection with a quadruple fatal accident had more than alcohol in his blood and cocaine metabolites in his urine when he allegedly drove through a stop sign near St. Sebastian on March 15. [More]
Further court action in fatality
Two men implicated in the March 15 quadruple fatality near St. Sebastian are still involved in court proceedings. They are:
• Staush M. Homan, 22, 582 N. Eastern Ave., St. Henry. He remains incarcerated at the Mercer County Jail on a $1 million bond pending a May 28 pretrial hearing.
Pupils could be Ohio's first with new technology
ST. MARYS - The local district is in line to be the first in Ohio where handheld computers will be provided for each student. Next school year a pilot program for third-, fourth- and fifth-graders will begin for a hands-on assessment of the local initiative.
St. Henry to get ambulance
The St. Henry branch of the Mercer County Emergency Medical Service will receive a new ambulance, as Mercer County commissioners recently approved the $133,645 purchase.
New Bremen to graduate 81 students on May 25
Eighty-one seniors at New Bremen High School will graduate at 2:30 p.m. May 25 at the New Bremen High School gymnasium.
To be honored as the top two grads will be Scott Schnelle as valedictorian and Alex Bergman as salutatorian.
