County Democratic party chairman says acts racially motivated

A recent spur of vandalism has left a handful of Barack Obama election signs in Celina spray-painted and burned - a crime Mercer County Democratic Party Chairman Bill Sell says is singular and racially motivated.
Sell said he knows of 12 incidents where Obama signs were covered in purple spray paint, with two signs also burned. The incidents occurred last weekend, he said. [More]
Minster girls win 14th straight league meet

COLDWATER - Seems like whenever Minster and New Bremen got together for a boys cross country race this fall sports season, it has been a plethora of close finishes and occasional tiebreakers.
Add in strong teams like St. Henry and Coldwater for Thursday's Midwest Athletic Conference Cross Country championships, and a doozy of a race was in the cards. [More]

MINSTER - Minster Local Schools board of education is seeking renewal of a 0.2-mill recreation levy at the polls on Nov. 4.
If approved, it will generate $18,006 annually for a period of five years. The owner of a $100,000 home would pay $7 per year.
The Mercer County Soil and Water Conservation District (SWCD) will take over the easement on a 41/2-acre parcel of mitigated wetland along Fleetfoot Road, a requirement the city of Celina needs to build a breakwall in Grand Lake.
