Werner Stucke
Werner H. Stucke, 88, 521 Clune-Stucke Road, Maria Stein, died at 8:30 a.m. March 2, 2009, at Mercer County Community Hospital, Coldwater.
He was born Sept. 5, 1920, in Maria Stein, to Fred and Anna Bomholt Stucke. On Oct. 4, 1941, he married Alvera Vehorn, who survives.
Other survivors are his children, Patricia (Gerald) Watercutter, Cranberry Prairie, Richard (Francella), St. Henry, Ronald (Carolyn), Cassella, Susan (Gary) Wendel, Celina, Nick (Bonnie), Mason, John (Paula), New Bremen, Lavern (Sue) Minster, Dale (Phyllis), Ashburn, Va., and Jim (Pam), Maria Stein; a brother, Arthur (Patricia), Dayton; a daughter-in-law, Ann, Minster; 47 grandchildren and 59 great-grandchildren.
Deceased are a son, Delbert; four brothers, Frank, Norbert, Jack and Leander; five sisters, Johanna Overman, Agnes Grevenkamp, Alvira Schwartz Homan, Regina Schwartz and Margaret Stucke; and two grandchildren.
He was a farmer and retired owner-operator of the Maria Stein Service Center. He also was treasurer for Marion Mutual Insurance Company, Maria Stein, for 26 years and retired from the Osgood Fire Department. He was a member of St. Rose Catholic Church and its Men's Sodality, the St. Rose School Board, Marion Local Building Committee and was a bus driver for Marion Local School.
Funeral Mass is 10:30 a.m. Friday at the church, the Rev. Gene Schnipke officiating. Burial is at the church cemetery.
Calling is 2-8 p.m. Thursday and 9-10 a.m. Friday at Hogenkamp Funeral Home, Coldwater.
