Icy plunge

A group takes to the icy water of Grand Lake on Saturday for the Freezin' for a Reason Polar Plunge to raise money for Special Olympics. The group of 52 plungers met at the Celina Moose Lodge, where a costume contest was held along with a post-plunge party. The plungers obtained monetary pledges to make the plunge in the lake, with the total raised being $18,000. This was the second year for the event, which last year drew 45 plungers and raised $11,500. The plunge is one of eight scheduled throughout Ohio this winter to raise money for Special Olympics, which provides year-round sports training and competition opportunities for adults and children with intellectual disabilities.
