Bird watchers line up along Hill Road west of Rockford Saturday trying to find Smith's Longspur, a sparrow-sized songbird of the subarctic tundra, in a corn stubble field. The bird, not usually seen in Ohio, is passing through Mercer on its migration route to Canada. Dozens of people from across Ohio and Michigan have come to see the birds.
