Wayne Kennedy
Wayne H. Kennedy, 90, 10211 Mercer-Auglaize County Line Road, Mendon, died at 11:29 a.m. July 4, 2009, at Lima Memorial Health System.
He was born Dec. 15, 1918, in Mendon to Joseph S. and Laura M. Hesse Kennedy. He married Betty M. Miller, who died Dec. 1, 1955.
Surviving are a son, Keith Kennedy, Waverly, Tenn., and a daughter, Lucille (James) Binkley, Waverly, Tenn.; a son-in-law, Paul O. Gray, Celina; 13 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
Deceased are two daughters, Judith L. Gray and Margaret E. Kennedy; and a sister, Glenyce Kennedy.
A farmer for 80 years, he did carpentry work for Peterson Construction, Wapakoneta. He also had worked for the Mercer County Sheriff's Department and the Celina and Mendon police departments both as an employee and volunteer for 40 years. A member of Grace Missionary Church, Celina, he was a graduate of the former Mendon-Union High School and a member of the Republican party.
Services are 11 a.m. Wednesday at the church, the Rev. Mike Spencer officiating. Burial is at Hamilton Bethel Cemetery, Mendon.
Calling is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at W.H. Dick & Sons-Hellwarth Funeral Home, Celina, and one hour prior to services Wednesday at the church.
