* WHERE...Portions of east central and southeast Indiana, northeast and northern Kentucky, and central, south central, southwest, and west central Ohio.
* WHEN...Until 10 AM EST this morning.
* IMPACTS...The cold wind chills as low as 15 below zero could result in hypothermia or frostbite if precautions are not taken. Very cold temperatures can lead to hypothermia with prolonged exposure.

Fred Poeppelman
Fred J. Poeppelman, 63, 8951 Althoff Road, Versailles, died Aug. 14, 2009, at his residence.
He was born Sept. 1, 1946, in Coldwater to Linus and Sylvina (Bruns) Poeppelman. On Nov. 28, 1974, he married Mary M. Boeke, who preceded him in death Sept. 26, 1998.
Surviving are three children, Sara Poeppelman, Vanceburg, Ky., Philip (Elizabeth) Poeppelman, DuPont, Wash., and Jill Poeppelman, Boston, Mass.; three brothers, Dr. Jerome Poeppelman, Stone Mt., Ga.; William (Madonna) Poeppelman, Yorkshire, and Mark (Nancy) Poeppelman, Dublin; two sisters, Karen (Gary) Batty, Versailles, and Diane (John) O'Connor, West Chester.
He was employed as a rural mail carrier for the Greenville Post Office and was a US Navy reserve veteran. A member of St. Denis Church, Versailles, he also was a member of the Knights of Columbus of Versailles and the Osgood American Legion.
Services will be Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at the St. Denis church with the Rev. David Vincent officiating. Burial will be in St. Martin Cemetery.
Calling hours are Wednesday, 3-8 p.m. and Thursday from 9-9:45 a.m. at Hogenkamp Funeral Home, Minster.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Darke County Mental Health Clinic.
