Mercer County commissioners, contractors, consultants and others discuss the final work to be completed at the adult detention center in rural Celina during a meeting at the site on Thursday. A ribbon cutting is slated for 2 p.m. Jan. 4, when the sheriff's staff will officially occupy the facility along state Route 29. Inmates are due to arrive on Feb. 28, according to officials. Construction and maintenance of the estimated $12 million center is being paid for by taxpayers through a 0.5 percent sales tax levy approved by voters in November 2007.
