Ernest "Ernie" Young, 95, of Union City, Ind., died Feb. 3, 2010, at St. Vincent Randolph Hospital, Winchester, Ind.

He was born April 15, 1914, in Jennings County, Ind., to Clarence M. and Addie Mae McClellan Young. His first wife, Mabel Simmons, died in 1991. His second wife, Jane Hinshaw Hersberger, survives.

Other survivors are two sons, Lester (Norma) Young, Celina, and Jerry (Sharon) Young, Bell Vista, Ark.; two daughters, Judy Champ, Bartonia, Ind., and Linda (Mark) Kreitzer, Sims, N.C.; two daughters-in-law, Jean Young, Union City, Ind., and Sandy Young, Richmond, Ind.; two stepchildren, Kay (Joe) Lackey, McCallister, Okla., and John (Marlene) Hersberger, Winchester; 11 grandchildren, 12 stepgrandchildren, and several great-grandchildren and stepgreat-grandchildren.

Deceased are two sons, Norman "Red" Young and Melvin Young; two brothers, Frank and Marshall Young; and four sisters, Agnes Bowers, Lillian Shaw, Delcie Evans and Ruth Simmons.

He worked at Fraizer's Supply, owned and operated a service station and was a farmer. He was a member of the New Lisbon Christian Church, Union City, Ind.

Services are 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the church, the Rev. Susan Deverall officiating. Burial is at Coffee Creek Christian Church Cemetery, Jennings County, Ind.

Calling is 4-7 p.m. today at Reichard Funeral Home Inc., Union City, Ind.
