Hilda Sommer
Hilda M. Sommer, 93, 01229 Minster Fort Recovery Road, Minster, died at 3:45 p.m. Feb. 6, 2010, at Heritage Manor in Minster, following a lengthy illness.
She was born April 9, 1916, in Celina, to Charles and Caroline Stukenborg Zumberge. On Aug. 3, 1938, she married Joseph W. Sommer, who died Aug. 22, 1993.
Surviving are her children, Evelyn (Kenneth) Gudorf, Minneapolis, Minn., Robert (Harrietta) Sommer of Troy, Thomas (Pat) Sommer, Vienna, Vir., James (Janice) Sommer of Tipp City, Janice (James) Wilson of Bremen, Ind., Kenneth (Sarah) Sommer of Minster, Mary Joe (Craig) Schlater of New Bremen; a brother, John Zumberge, Celina, a brother-in-law, Leo Dabbelt, Kansas; 19 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.
Deceased are two brothers, Fr. August and Edward Zumberge; and three sisters, Nettie Vanderhorst, Anna Knapke and Margaret Dabbelt.
A homemaker, she was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Egypt, and the Ladies Sodality of the church.
Funeral Mass is 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the church, the Rev. Rick Nieberding officiating. Burial will follow at St. Augustine Cemetery.
Calling is 3-8 p.m. Wednesday and 9-10 a.m. Thursday at Hogenkamp Funeral Home.
