Maria Stein Center
Photo by Shelley Grieshop/The Daily Standard
The children of Fred and Denise Kleinhenz of Maria Stein touch a digital replica of the original image of Our Lady of Guadalupe on display Friday at the Maria Stein Center chapel. The true image appeared on a Native American Indian's cloak in Mexico, Dec. 12, 1531, and remains in the Basilica near Mexico City. The 4-foot-by-6-foot replica travels around the world and will be at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Coldwater 7 a.m.-7 p.m. today. A constant vigil is kept wherever it journeys and the public is encouraged to visit, gently touch it, pray and leave petitions and donations for its care.
