Donna M. Watkins, 84, 314 E. Plum St., New Bremen, died at 9:45 a.m. March 5, 2010, at Heritage Manor Nursing Home, Minster.

She was born March 10, 1925, in Millersport, to the Rev. George and Leifa Pierce Thompson. On Aug. 17, 1947, she married Carl Watkins, who died in January 1996.

Surviving are a son, John (Barbara) Watkins, Germantown; a brother, Raymond (Wilda) Thompson, Amanda; and two grandchildren.

Deceased is an infant son, Michael; and two brothers, Melvin and Charles Thompson.

She was a teacher at New Bremen High School and a teacher and administrator at Auglaize School (now known as the ABC Center) in New Bremen, where she retired in 1981. She started a group home in Wapakoneta, which was named in her honor. She was a past member of the New Bremen Public Library Board, the New Bremen Historic Association Board and St. Paul United Church of Christ, New Bremen.

Services are 11 a.m. Tuesday at the church, the Rev. Becky Erb Strang officiating. Burial is at German Protestant Cemetery, New Bremen.

Calling is after 10 a.m. Tuesday at the church.
