Virgil Puthoff
Virgil H. Puthoff, 62, 121 W. Franklin St., Chickasaw, died at 5:47 a.m. March 7, 2010, at the Ohio State University Medical Center.
He was born May 23, 1947, in Celina, to Albert and Mary Agnes Clune Puthoff. On May 25, 1968, he married Elaine Moeller, who survives.
Also surviving are four brothers, Gerald Puthoff, Fort Loramie, Roger (Pat) Puthoff, Bradford, James (Mary Lou) Nerderman, Versailles, and Donald Puthoff, Celina; two sisters, Donna (Dennis) Hinshaw, Winchester, Ind., and Teresa (Steve) Seitz, Celina.
Deceased are two brothers, Richard and Fred Puthoff; a sister, Carol Puthoff; and a stepfather, Urban Nerderman.
He worked as a self-employed carpenter and was the current mayor of the village of Chickasaw. He was a member of Precious Blood Church in Chickasaw, where he served as an usher and a member of the funeral parking committee. He was a member of the Chickasaw Town Council for 22 years, was a co-founder of the Chickasaw Park Board, president of Marion Township Combined Charity and a member of Coldwater Eagles 3025. He played Santa Claus for 42 years and was a member of the U.S. Marine Crop Reserves.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Friday at the church, the Rev. Gene Schnipke officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.
Calling is 2-8 p.m. Thursday and 9-10 a.m. Friday at Hogenkamp Funeral Home in Coldwater.
