Lowa Sawmiller
Lowa E. "Blondie" Sawmiller, 91, Spencerville, died at 12:30 a.m. May 17, 2010, at Roselawn Manor Nursing Home in Spencerville.
She was born April 13, 1919, in Liberty Township in Van Wert County, to Edward and Mary Jane Chambers Roberts. On Jan. 4, 1941, she married James Edward Sawmiller, who died Sept. 23, 1994.
Surviving are four children, James Edward (Ella) Sawmiller, Wapakoneta, Mary Alice Savidge, Spencerville, Jane Ann (Larry Wood) Sawmiller, Lima, and Judy Kay (Don) Dodge, Delaware; a brother, Orley Roberts, Wyoming; 10 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren.
Deceased are a son, Gary Lee Sawmiller, two sons-in-law, Randall P. Bell and Michael Savidge; five brothers, Edward, Vernon, Clinton, Herbert and Ernest Roberts; and six sisters, Nora Alexander, Esther Grimm, Fay Hawk, Anna Brandt, Mildred Coats and Mirintha Shepler and a great grandson.
She attended the Hartford Christian Church. She and her husband co-owned and operated the Corner Cafe in Spencerville with Gerald and Mary Bowers. She also worked at the Ohio Decorative Products Company in Spencerville and sold Avon products.
Funeral services are 1 p.m. Thursday at the Thomas E. Bayliff Funeral Home in Spencerville, the Rev. Robert King officiating. Burial will follow in the Hartford Cemetery.
Calling is 7-9 p.m. today and 2-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
