Imelda Heckman
Imelda A. Heckman, 85, Maria Stein, died at 12:29 a.m. May 27, 2010, at Mercer County Community Hospital in Coldwater.
She was born July 10, 1924, in Cassella, to Aloys and Cleophia Boeke Schoenherr. On Nov. 29, 1947, she married Richard U. Heckman, who died Oct. 24, 1988.
Surviving are six children, Werner (Elaine) Heckman, Maria Stein, Jean (Frank) Liesner, Chickasaw, Mary Ann (Vernon) Bohman, Russia, Karen (Roger) Evers, Celina, Jan (Jeff) Gottschalk, Minster, and Paul (Annette) Heckman, Maria Stein; a daughter-in-law, Bonnie (Gary) Garrison, Maria Stein; four siblings, Joe (Joan) Schoenherr, St. Peter, Irene Fullenkamp, Portland, Ind., Vincent (Margie) Schoenherr, St. Joe, and Rose Ann (Richard) Post, Celina; two sisters-in-law, Roseann Schoenherr, St. Paul, Minn., and Roberta Schoenherr, Orem, Utah; 24 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
Deceased are two sons, Tom and Joseph Heckman; a daughter, Marita Heckman; three brothers, Alvin, Roman and Louis Schoenherr; a sister, Anna Marie Post, and two brothers-in-law, William Post and Martin Fullenkamp.
She was a member of St. John Catholic Church in Maria Stein, St. Sebastian Catholic Church in Sebastian, the ladies rosary altar sodality of St. Sebastian, Knights of John Auxiliary, the Chickasaw Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary, Maria Stein American Legion Auxiliary, Catholic Knights in Cassella, and she volunteered at the Mercer Health gift shop and the Maria Stein Retreat House.
Funeral Mass is 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Sebastian Catholic Church, the Rev. Ken Schroeder officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.
Calling is 2-8 p.m. Monday and 9-10 a.m. Tuesday at Hogenkamp Funeral Home in Coldwater.
