Walter Bensman
Walter Bensman, 79, St. Marys, died at 9:10 a.m. Sept. 2, 2010, at Otterbein St. Marys Retirement Community.
He was born April 2, 1931, in Celina, to Henry and Cornelia Ellerbrock Bensman. On Sept. 12, 1953, he married Anita Millisor, who survives at Otterbein.
Also surviving are three children, Gary (Judy) Bensman, Martinsburg, W. Va., Thomas (Sarni) Bensman, Taiwan, and Carol (Eric) Foell, Wilmington; and five grandchildren.
Deceased are two infant siblings; and four sisters, Henrietta DuPuis, Elizabeth Kendall, Naomi Krick and Roseann Christman.
He was a 1949 graduate of Celina High School and attended diesel engineering school. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy where he served during the Korean War. He retired from St. Marys Foundry Company and operated at Sohio Distributorship. He also worked as a bus driver for St. Marys City Schools. He was a member of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church in St. Marys, the Knights of Columbus and the American Legion Post 323 in St. Marys.
Funeral Mass is 11 a.m. Tuesday at the church, the Rev. James Seibert officiating. Burial is at Elm Grove Cemetery in St. Marys.
Calling is 6-8 p.m. Monday at Miller-Long and Folk Funeral Home in St. Marys.
