Rev. Thomas Conway
The Rev. Thomas Conway C.PP.S, 80, died Oct. 6, 2010, at St. Charles Center, Carthagena.
He was born April 15, 1930, in Detroit, Mich., to Harold and Marie Oberle Conway.
On Aug. 14, 1944, he entered Brunnerdale Seminary in Canton and was ordained June 2, 1957, at the former St. Charles Seminary.
He served parishes in Centerville, Iowa; Linton, N.D.; Liberty and Kearney, Mo.; and Park Falls, Butternut and Westboro, Wis., before retiring in 2002. He also served as chaplain at Marymount College in Salina, Kan.; provincial archivist in Liberty; and a member of the General Curia in Rome from 1985 to 1989.
An artist, he wrote a screenplay used on the television show "Combat," wrote music featured on the Lawrence Welk Show, wrote a Mass performed in Linton and produced numerous coats of honor.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Friday at St. Charles Center with his brother, the Rev. Robert Conway, officiating and a nephew, Msgr. Robert McClory, giving the homily. Burial followed at the St. Charles community cemetery.
