Helen Henkle
Helen M. Henkle, 92, Rockford, died Dec. 9, 2010, at The Laurels of Shane Hill in Rockford.
She was born Nov. 28, 1918, in Mercer County, to Grover and Lavina Karch Burris. On Dec. 25, 1938, she married Thorsen L. Henkle, who died Nov. 12, 2008.
Surviving are three children, Michael (Linda) Henkle, Connie Marbaugh and Linda Hart, all of Rockford; a daughter-in-law, Kathy Henkle, Rockford; 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.
Deceased is a son, Steve Henkle; a great-grandchild, a great-great-grandchild; and three sisters, Ruth McClleand, Mary Stahl and Dorothy Pifer.
She was the head cook at Parkway Local Schools and worked at Tu-Way Mop Factory in Rockford. She was a member of the Rockford United Methodist Church, the Eastern Star where she was a Worthy Matron, and President of the American Legion Auxiliary Post #508, all of Rockford. She was a leader at Buckeye Girls State and was a member of the Van Wert Civic Theater.
Memorial service is 11:30 a.m. Dec. 18 at Ketcham-Ripley Funeral Home in Rockford, the Rev. Chip Steffy officiating. Burial is at Riverside Cemetery in Rockford.
Calling is 10:30 a.m.-11:30 a.m. Dec. 18 at the funeral home.
