Rev. Anselm Boeke
The Rev. Anselm F. Boeke, 92, of St. Charles Center in Carthagena, died Jan. 7, 2011, at his residence.
He was born Aug. 25, 1918, in Cassella, to Joseph and Mary Dahlinghaus Boeke.
Survivors include nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by six brothers, the Rev. Aloysius, Linus, Edmund, the Rev. Leo, Victor and Clement Boeke, and three sisters, Sister Mary Euthalia Boeke, Sister Adele Boeke and Viola Hess.
He attended St. Henry High School prior to entering St. Gregory Seminary at the age of 15. He was ordained to the priesthood in 1943 after earning a bachelor's degree and completing four years of theology.
Among the parishes he served were St. Martin in Cheviot, St. Anthony in Dayton, St. Mary in Piqua, Resurrection and Sacred Heart in Dayton, Thomas Moore in Withamville, St. Nicholas in Osgood, Precious Blood in Chickasaw, Holy Rosary in St. Marys, Holy Trinity in Coldwater, St. Lawrence in Rhine and again at St. Mary in Piqua before retiring to St. Charles Center in 2006.
He served as chaplain of the Ohio State Council of the Catholic Knights of America and as a conference master for the Sisters of Christian Charity and the Sisters of the Precious Blood.
Funeral Mass is 2 p.m. Monday at St. Charles, with Archbishop Dennis Schnurr officiating. Burial will follow at Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Cemetery, Cassella.
Calling is 2-5 p.m. Sunday at St. Charles and after a 7 p.m. wake service. Calling also is 1-1:45 p.m. Monday at St. Charles.
