James Slavik
Former Coldwater resident James D. Slavik, DVM, 80, St. Marys, died at 1:30 a.m. March 8, 2011, at Otterbein in St. Marys.
He was born Sept. 15, 1930, in Chagrin Falls, to Frank T. and Alice S. Kucera Slavik. On Sept. 20, 1951, he married Joan C. Lorentz, who died March 13, 1982. On Jan. 22, 1983, he married, Patricia E. Hauer, who survives in St. Marys.
Also surviving are two children, Gwen (Ed) Pietzuch and Bruce (Darlene) Slavik; three stepchildren, Matt (Mary) Cahill, Douglas (Terre) Cahill and Margaret (Jack) Cahill-Berry; a sister, Betty Clemens; a sister-in-law, Helen Slavik; two grandchildren; eight stepgrandchildren and three step great-grandchildren.
Also deceased are four brothers.
Memorial services are 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Coldwater United Methodist Church, the Revs. Allan Brown and David Gordon co-officiating. Entombment of the cremains will be at Memorial Park Mausoleum in Lima at a later date.
Memorials may be made to the Otterbein St. Marys Benevolent Fund or the church.
Arrangements are being handled by Siferd-Orians Funeral Home in Lima.
