Beaver Creek walleye
Submitted Photo
Richard Flanary, Celina, caught this 13-pound walleye Tuesday afternoon in Beaver Creek near the West Bank spillway using a rubber twister tail lure. Mercer County Wildlife Officer Ryan Garrison said anglers have been catching good walleye and crappie in the creek. This monster is likely a female full of eggs, Garrison said, adding that another man fishing near Flanary caught a 12-pound specimen. Walleye are likely more active and easier to catch now because they are getting ready to spawn, Garrison said. The state stocked walleye in Grand Lake between 1999 and 2008.
