Bed bugs are parasitic insects that prefer to feed on human blood but also will seek out rodents, bats, birds and pets if available. The insects are reddish brown and about 1/4- to 3/8-inch long with an oval shape and flat body when unfed. They don't fly, but can walk fast and cling tightly to surfaces such as cracks and crevices.
