Ril Miller
Former Celina and Mendon resident Ril T. Miller, 85, Otterbein St. Marys Retirement Community, died at 4:31 a.m. July 16, 2011 at Mercer County Community Hospital, Coldwater.
He was born Aug. 16, 1925, in Mendon to Alpha and Josephine Murlin Miller. On Nov. 13, 1944, he married Viola Mae Long, who died Feb. 13, 2008.
Surviving are two sons, Ronald (Becky) Miller, Kokomo, Ind., and Randy (Shirley) Miller, Van Wert; four daughters, Rosa Van Gundy, Rockford, Linda (Ed) Frey, Fort Wayne, Ind., Rebecca (Mike) Barber, St. Marys, and Lori Heckert, Ashland; 20 grandchildren; and 33 great-grandchildren.
Deceased are a daughter, Deborah Sue Miller; three siblings and spouses, Betty and Wayne Kennedy, Dwight and Joan Miller and Clayton "KK" and Gladys Miller; and a son-in-law, George Van Gundy.
A farmer, he was a rural letter carrier in the Mendon area. He was a member of the Ohio Rural Letter Carriers Association and the Montezuma Church of Christ. He was a 1944 graduate of Mendon-Union High School and served with the U. S. Navy in Annapolis during World War II.
Service is 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at W.H. Dick & Sons-Hellwarth Funeral Home, Celina, the Rev. Kevin Neumann officiating. Burial will follow at Mendon Cemetery with graveside military rites conducted by Celina American Legion Post 210 and VFW Post 5713.
Calling is 3-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
