Mercer County's finances are fairing better than initially projected, but next year could be rough, resulting in furloughs, reduced office hours and other spending cuts.

Mercer County Commissioners accepted a $1.03 million bid from Tumbusch Construction in St. Henry to upgrade water flow in the village of Mendon.

Commissioners awarded the contract to Tumbusch on Thursday afternoon at the recommendation of Fanning Howey Engineering Group, Celina.
