Carman Hirschfeld
Carman A. Hirschfeld, 95, of New Bremen, died at 6:25 p.m. Feb. 8, 2012, at Heritage Manor Nursing Home, Minster.
He was born Feb. 17, 1916, in rural New Bremen to Benjamin and Malinda Kellermeyer Hirschfeld. On Oct. 4, 1940, he married Norma Davenport, who died May 30, 1998.
Surviving are two daughters, Terry (Ted) Wagner and Jeanine (James) Kitzmiller, all of New Bremen; a daughter-in-law, Margaret Hirschfeld, Newcomerstown; five grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and two stepgreat-grandchildren.
Deceased is a son, Lanny Hirschfeld; a great-grandson; a stepgreat-grandson; a sister, Eva Hirschfeld; and three brothers, Paul, Nevin and Luther "Jack" Hirschfeld.
He was a lifetime member of Zion/Faith Alliance Church, New Bremen, and graduate of New Bremen High School and North Western School of Taxidermy. He worked at the former New Bremen Broom Factory and former New Bremen Hardware & Supply. He also worked at Crown Equipment and 26 years at the former Stamco plant, both of New Bremen. He retired from New Bremen Machine and Tool Co. and served as an EMT for the New Bremen Life Squad.
Services are 4 p.m. Monday at the church, the Rev. Thomas Sager officiating. Burial is at German Protestant Cemetery, New Bremen.
Calling is 2 p.m.-4 p.m. Monday at the church.
Contributions may be made to the church memorial fund.
