Jeffrey D. Smith, 51, Portland, Ind., died Feb. 14, 2012, at Reed Memorial Hospital, Richmond, Ind.
He was born Jan. 1, 1961, in Portland, to Marion and Norma Rohrer Smith. His mother survives in Fort Recovery. On May 17, 2002, he married Pamela Myers, who survives.
Also surviving are a brother, William Joe Smith, Fort Recovery, and a brother-in-law, Bill (Karen) Stump, Jacksonville, Fla.
Deceased is a sister, Mary Stump.
He was formerly employed by Red Gold, Geneva, Ind., and was a driver for Amish carpenters. He was a former volunteer firefighter with the Portland Fire Department.
He served with the U.S. Army and was a member of the American Legion in Portland.
He was a member of Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church, Fort Recovery.
Funeral Mass is 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the church, the Rev. Thomas Dorn officiating. Burial will follow in St. Marys Cemetery.
Calling is 8:30-10 a.m. Saturday at Brockman-Boeckman Funeral Home, Fort Recovery.
