Safety-service director hired

By Amy Kronenberger
ST. MARYS - A Fayette County man has accepted the safety-service director job in St. Marys.
Jason Little, 40, of Washington Courthouse, accepted the position today at a salary of $91,000. Little is a graduate of Ohio Northern University and is a professional engineer and surveyor. He has 20 years experience in public engineering, Mayor Patrick McGowan said this morning.
He has excellent technical and communication skills and came with very high recommendations from former employers, McGowan said.
"He showed a real desire and interest in the job," he said. "He's a small-town guy, and this is where he wants to raise his family. We really liked that about him."
McGowan said he conducted five interviews from about 12 applicants during the three month search.
Little said the job brings him and his wife and their three children closer to his wife's family in Ottawa.
"St. Marys is similar to where I'm from so I really liked the area," he said. "And the job itself is a great opportunity for me and will challenge me."
Little will begin on March 30 and will replace interim safety service director Craig Moeller. Moeller stepped in as director after former director Tom Hitchcock resigned in December. Moeller will resume his position has head engineer.
