Rodney McAfee
Rodney M. McAfee, 86, Celina, died at 12:45 p.m. April 28, 2012, at Celina Manor Nursing Home.
He was born Feb. 26, 1926, in Coldwater to Charles and Ocie Rabe McAfee. On Feb. 8, 1947, he married Betty Smith, who died Feb. 12, 1998.
Surviving are two sons, Dennis (Gwen) McAfee, Celina, and Steve (Dora) McAfee, Celina; two grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Deceased are siblings, Kirby McAfee and Marjorie Wick.
He was a 1944 graduate of Celina High School and attended RETS Technical School, Detroit. He served with the U.S. Navy during World War II on the USS Thuban (Aka19) and received the American Area Ribbon, Asiatic Pacific Area Ribbon One Star and the World War II Victory Ribbon.
He owned and operated McAfee's Communication, Celina, retiring in 1989. He attended First Church of God, Celina. He was a member of Celina Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Service is 1 p.m. Wednesday at Lehman-Hogenkamp-Dzendzel Funeral Home, Celina. Burial will follow in Buck Cemetery with military honors by the VFW and American Legion, both of Celina.
Calling is 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
