Marvin Phares
Marvin Willis Phares, 90, of Wolcottville, Ind., died May 25, 2012, at Parkview LaGrange Hospital, LaGrange, Ind.
He was born Oct. 4, 1921, in Ligonier, Ind., to Cecil and Frances Ozier Phares. On Feb. 24, 1949, he married Laveta Bitner, who died in April.
Surviving are two sons, Lyle (Pennie) Phares, Ligonier, and Kent (Barb) Phares, Celina; three daughters, Susan (Ken) Brumbaugh, Churubuscio, Ind., Carol Phares, Middlebury, Ind., and Deborah (Mark) Grossman, Wolcottville; 19 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Deceased is a daughter, Marvene Phares.
A U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, he attended reunions for his ship LST 753. He was a member of Cosperville Baptist Church.
Services are 10 a.m. Friday at Stone's Hill Community Church, Ligonier, the Revs. Jim Barnes and Nathan Reynolds officiating. Burial will follow at Sparta Cemetery, Kimmell, Ind.
Calling is 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the church.
