Mayor says move not due to recent drowning
CELINA - Swimming at Eastview Pond has been temporarily banned.
Two signs went up Monday near the pond that say the beach is closed and people should stay out of the water.
Archery, water fights, crafts and campfires are just some of the fun activities at Mercer County 4-H Camp this year.
About 200 children will have participated in the two, four-day camps offered; one was last week and the other ends Thursday.

CELINA - City council members support a proposal by a Marysville company looking to secure access to algae extracted by the city during the water treatment process.

MARIA STEIN - The parking lots at Marion Local Schools will be getting a facelift.
School board members on Monday night awarded the low bid of $228,629.25 to Tumbusch Construction, St. Henry, for parking lot renovations, sealing and striping.
Coldwater
COLDWATER - Dilapidated buildings and the problem of stray cats in the village were discussed at Monday's village council meeting.
In the absence of village manager/engineer Eric Thomas, mayor Joe Knapschaefer said the village is in need of an ordinance dealing with abandoned and unsafe buildings.

The Auglaize-Mercer Family YMCA Waves' swimming team competed at the BASH/PCY Summer Classic, hosted by the Blue Ash YMCA and the Powell Crosley Jr. YMCA at Miami University in Oxford over the weekend.
Local officials are planning a drive-it-yourself tour Sept. 9 in the Grand Lake Watershed to highlight ongoing activities aimed at improving the lake's water quality. It will be noon to 5 p.m.
