Janice Evans
Janice J. Evans, 87, of Celina, died June 24, 2012, at her home.
She was born Sept. 23, 1924, in Coldwater, to Forest and Ada McNair Ensign. On May 29, 1948, she married Ernest Holmes Evans, who died Jan. 17, 2004.
Surviving are three children, Nancy (Chuck) Hoselton, Union City, Tenn., William H. (Shelley) Evans, North Myrtle Beach, S.C., and Julie (Doyle) Fledderjohn, Celina; a brother, Dr. Hoyt (Betty) Ensign, Toledo; six grandchildren; one stepgrandchild; nine great-grandchildren; and five stepgreat-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Mercile Bair and Gladis Temme.
She was a member of New Life Christian Center and the Altrurian Club, both of Celina. She was a 1942 graduate of Coldwater High School and a 1946 graduate of Flower Hospital School of Nursing. She was a cadet nurse during World War II and later worked as a private duty nurse at area hospitals including the former Otis Hospital until 1977. She retired from Celina Manor Nursing Home in 1989.
Graveside services will be held at a later date.
Lehman-Hogenkamp-Dzendzel Funeral Home, Celina, has charge of arrangements.
