Louis Osterhage
Fr. Louis Osterhage, C.PP.S., 81, Carthagena, died Sept. 13, 2012 at St. Charles Center Infirmary, Carthagena.
He was born Sept. 19, 1930, in Kalida, to Louis and Molly Meyer Osterhage. He was ordained June 1, 1958.
Surviving are six sisters, Mildred Remlinger and Ceil (Don) Gerdeman, all of Kalida, Joan (Jerry) Kuhlman, Ottawa, Marie (Joe) Langhals, Kalida, Ruth Ann (David) Manley, Hinckley, and Rita (Roy) Morman, Glandorf; a brother, Robert (Joan) Osterhage, Ottawa; two sisters-in-law, Pauline Osterhage, Columbus Grove, and Dorothy Osterhage, Glandorf.
Also deceased are four brothers, Alfred, Wilfred, Eugene and Paul Osterhage; two sisters, Rose (Joe) Kistler and Julie (Dave) Hamilton; and a brother-in-law, Wilbur Remlinger.
He briefly served as minister at St. Anthony Church in Detroit, after which he spent 10 years as associate pastor at Immaculate Conception Church, Celina. In 1968, he was named the dean of students at St. Joseph's College, Calumet, Ind.
He returned to Celina in 1973 as pastor at Immaculate Conception. He went on to serve as president of Calumet College of St. Joseph and pastor at St. John the Baptist in Glandorf and St. Joseph Church in downtown Dayton. He retired in 2009.
Funeral Mass is 2 p.m. Monday in the chapel at St. Charles Center, Fr. Larry Hemmelgarn presiding. Fr. James McCabe will be homilist. Burial will follow at the St. Charles Community Cemetery.
Calling is 1-5 and 6:30-8:30 p.m. Sunday, with a prayer vigil at 6:30 p.m.
Memorials may be given to the Society of the Precious Blood.
