Community celebrates Feast of St. Nicholas

Whether tucking an orange into a shoe or hooking a candy cane into a stocking, the tradition of St. Nick varies for many families in the Grand Lake area.
Anne McGuire, director of programs at the Maria Stein Shrine of the Holy Relics, said the tradition of celebrating the Feast of St. Nicholas on Dec. 6 has diminished, but those who continue to celebrate it are mostly Catholics or members of Eastern Orthodox, Lutheran, Anglican and Episcopalian churches. Riethman receives national ag teaching award

COLDWATER - Tri Star horticulture instructor and FFA adviser Denny Riethman at Coldwater schools was named one of six top agriculture educators in the nation last week by the National Association of Agricultural Educators.
Riethman received the Outstanding Agricultural Education Teacher award for region 4, which includes Ohio. He received a plaque and a free two-year lease on a Toyota Tundra truck. Toyota sponsored the award. [More]

FORT RECOVERY - Village council members on Monday night unanimously approved final reading of an ordinance to allow golf carts to be driven on all roads within the corporation limits.
Browning is helping Parkway start a wrestling program
ROCKFORD - Kevin Browning knows there is interest for wrestling in the Parkway community.
All he has to do is help sustain it.
The Parkway Wrestling Club, with Browning as coach, will make its debut this season with a modest group of grapplers after the school okayed the endeavor.
