Viola Roettger
Viola M. Roettger, 98, Botkins, died at 8:20 p.m. Dec. 24, 2012, at Elmwood of New Bremen.
She was born May 27, 1914, in Washington Township, Auglaize County, to Edward H. and Caroline Fledderjohann Arnett. On Sept. 8, 1940, she married Marvin F. Roettger, who is deceased.
Surviving are a daughter, Carolyn (David) Jensvold, Kettlersville; a son, Dennis (Judy) Roettger, Port Clinton; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Mary Rohrbaugh and Mildred (Stanley) Jones, all of Wapakoneta.
She was a 1932 graduate of New Knoxville High School. She and her husband founded Roettger Hardwood, Inc. in 1947. She served as president and treasurer of the board of directors until the time of her death She was a member of the Immanuel United Church of Christ, Kettlersville, where she served as an officer of the Women's Guild, served as a Sunday School teacher and sang in the church choir. She had been a member of the Homemakers Club of Kettlersville, the Wally Byam Caravan Club, the Kettlersville Senior Citizens and the Airstream Caravan Club.
Services are 2 p.m. Sunday at the church, the Rev. Charles Moeller officiating. Burial will be in German Protestant Cemetery in New Bremen.
Calling is 2-6 p.m. Saturday at Gilberg-Hartwig Funeral Home, New Bremen, and 1-2 p.m. Sunday at the church.
