Shirley Lageman
Shirley A. Lageman, 77, New Knoxville, died at 10:30 a.m. Feb. 2, 2013, at Joint Township District Memorial Hospital, St. Marys, following an extended illness.
She was born Aug. 3, 1935, in Auglaize County to John and Carrie Christler Elsass. On Feb. 14, 1959, she married James Lageman, who survives at the residence.
She is also survived by four children, Barbara (Wayne) Bateman of O'Fallon, Mo., Annette (Donald) Siegler of West Chester, Jeanette (Fred) Coulson of Loveland and Mark (Sarah) Lageman of New Knoxville; 10 grandchildren, Nick Siegler, Belinda Bateman, Denver Coulson, Zachary Lageman, Shelby Bateman, Austin Coulson, Ryan Lageman, Abigail Lageman, Jonah Lageman and Caleb Lageman; four siblings, Marge Daugherty of St. Marys, Richard Elsass of New Knoxville, Ted Elsass of Celina and Sharon Clark of Shawnee.
She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, Howard Elsass, Berniece Whetstone, Warren Elsass, Gerald Elsass, Donald Elsass, Ned Elsass and Bonita Hughs.
She was a 1953 graduate of Buckland High School. She was an active member of Faith Alliance Church in New Bremen, where she had taught Sunday School for many years. She was a homemaker who enjoyed sewing, traveling, music and playing games with her grandchildren.
Funeral rites will be held 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Faith Alliance Church in New Bremen, the Rev. Tom Sager officiant. Burial will follow at German Protestant Cemetery.
Calling is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the church.
Memorial gifts may be given to World Vision, The Compassion Mission Fund or Ohio Right To Life.
